I don’t know if you’ve seen the latest vid from Weird Al. It’s funny and you should definitely watch it if you haven’t already.
The guy in this video is a traceur, a participant of the physical displine known as Parkour. According to the title of the video, the traceur is russian, so I guess it was filmed in Russia too. The video is set in a run-down part of town. There’s no shortage of derelict buildings to scale and leap between. It must be a Parkour’s paradise. From Wikipedia:
Parkour is often connected with the idea of freedom, in the form of the ability to overcome aspects of one’s surroundings that tend to confine; for example, railings, staircases, or walls. The practice of parkour requires considerable physical and mental dedication, and many adherents describe it as a “way of life.”
Each Tuesday I’ll be posting my favourite video that I’ve viewed over the past week.
This week’s video reminds me of the start of the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Mr. Potts, Dick Van Dyke’s inventor character, has installed an elaborate system that, amongst other things, serves fried eggs and sausages directly to the table. I want one.
I don’t remember ever seeing an interview any member of Radiohead other than Thom Yorke. This video, shot whilst in Italy I think, features Colin, Ed, Phil and Thom, all chatting away happily. Actually, Phil excuses himself 5 minutes in to the footage. Must have needed the toilet or something.
This video may get taken down shortly as Microsoft agreed to never put it out into the public domain. An employee must have leaked it. At the time of writing, YouTube had removed the same video from their site.
